The human eye remembers, pieces things together, supplements, computes, rejects, compares and interprets. What we design are perceptive processes, complex messages transmitted at the speed of light.
Light, the slightest change of which can be perceived. Light, which always has an effect, be it a conscious or unconscious one.. Effects and reactions which take place in our inner mental and emotional system and which we have to understand if we want to be able to design with.
Light is a transmitter - not an accessory or an epiphenomena - and it should be conducted through and from architecture. The idea, the message of material and texture, the purpose, the orientation, mood, and atmosphere - illumination designed in an integrative fashion creates an immediate effect.
The effect, influence and the entire perceptive process are the foundation of light design.
